The Ultimate Google Stadia Rundown

Google Stadia has arrived, and it is ready to start a revolution in the video game industry.

Innovation has always been the driving force behind the most significant developments in how the video game world operates. Streaming is the latest trend to plant its flag in the land of the video game industry. Google is ready to be in the driver’s wheel of what some believe to be the next significant change in how players experience the exciting worlds that developers create with its Stadia streaming platform.

Google Stadia is trying to push forward the days where powerful PCs and physical consoles and games are no longer needed. The new platform is looking to provide players with the ability to play the biggest games in the world at the highest quality with only a screen, a controller, and a fast internet connection.

How Does It Work

The new game streaming service will allow players to stream and play a plethora of games onto their PCs, laptops, TVs, tablets running Chrome OS, or Google’s Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4 phones. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection and have access to the Google Chrome Browser. Now, you will have to have at least an internet connection speed of 35Mbps to enjoy everything that Google Stadia has to offer at its highest quality. This highest quality is 60 frames per second at 4K resolution. Individuals who do not have access to an internet speed fast enough for the full performance power of the service will still be able to enjoy the library of Google Stadia titles at 720p resolution with a speed of 10Mbps.

Your control of the platform will be conducted through a custom controller that has been built for the service. This controller will have the ability to be used on TVs when the Google Chromecast Ultra is plugged into your device of choice. You will then be able to experience the platform’s library of titles following the selection of your Stadia name through the service’s app for iOS and Android.

Cost and Editions

Now, there is not only one version of the new streaming service that is available for players to own and utilize. Those who are currently able to experience Google Stadia are owners of the platform’s Founder’s and Premier Editions.

The majority of the content in the Founder’s and Premier Editions is similar. The highly anticipated service became live for owners of both versions to begin using. Both the Founder’s and Premier Editions of Stadia supply players with the following for the price of $129:

  • Three free months of Stadia Pro, the $9.99 a month subscription service you will need to stream Stadia games at 60 fps and 4K resolution
  • Full Destiny 2 Collection
  • a Chromecast Ultra streaming device
  • a Controller

The Premier Edition is currently still available for interested individuals to purchase on the platform’s official website.

There are a few differences between the Founder’s and Premier Editions. Those who were able to get their hands on the now sold-out Founder’s Edition received a blue controller, the option to reserve usernames before the service’s launch, and a Buddy Pass that would allow a friend to try out Google Stadia.

Finally, we have the Stadia Base Edition. This version will be free for everyone to use. However, users of the Base Edition will only be able to stream up to 1080p at 60fps and not have 4K capability when it comes to their streaming resolution. The Stadia Base Edition will become available for individuals to use sometime in 2020.

Games

There are currently 42 games that have been announced to already be or will be playable on Google Stadia. Upcoming releases like Cyberpunk 2077, DOOM Eternal, Marvel’s Avengers, and Watch Dogs Legion will be looked upon as showcases of the platform’s ability to deliver the latest in Triple-A games to players heading into the future. 22 of these games launched with the Premiere Edition of the streaming service on November 19th. However, you must pay individually for each game, as they do not come included with the subscription cost of the Stadia platform itself. You can find all of the high-profile titles that Google Stadia players currently have the opportunity to jump into and enjoy below:

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2
  • Destiny 2: The Collection
  • Farming Simulator 2019
