Modern Warfare 2 To Fix Like Footstep Audio, Enemy Visibility and More Following Beta Feedback

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta concluded earlier this week, and allegedly it was one for the record books.

According to Infinity Ward, Call of Duty players made the Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta the biggest Beta in Call of Duty history, supposedly with the most players, hours played, and matches ever seen before.

Whilst we’ve no doubt this is a huge deal to the developer and publisher, fans of the game are likely more interested to know how the developer intends to tweak the game between now and launch. Thankfully, Infinity Ward has also touched on these tweaks whilst doing their victory lap.

“As we head into launch, we are going to be making some adjustments based on learnings from the Beta,” Infinity Ward said. “One of the most important parts of the Beta is having you, the players, find new bugs and issues for us. We are grateful to the community for coming together to help us fine-tune this game – and we can’t wait to show you even more.”

Modern Warfare 2 Beta Feedback

Footstep Audio –

“While sentiment around footstep audio was more positive in Beta Weekend Two, we have seen your continued feedback on the volume of footsteps and will continue to balance enemy/friendly footstep audio ahead of launch.”

Enemy Visibility –

“Enemy visibility is something that came up throughout both weekends of our Beta. While many of you remarked on the improvement in Weekend Two, we’ll look to tweak increased enemy visibility to allow for better visual tracking of opponents that is not solely the traditional nameplate.”

Disbanding Lobbies –

“Disbanding lobbies are another topic we addressed during Beta. We feel this is an important feature and are actively looking for potential solutions for launch.”

Weapon Tuning –

“In terms of weapons, we are very happy with the results of the weapon tuning changes we made for Weekend Two for the Beta. We have more changes to come given weapon performance in the Beta and we’re very excited for everyone to get hands on with ALL of the weapons in MWII!”

Third-Person Mode –

“We were excited to see so much interest in our Third-Person playlist. We have heard feedback on the camera shoulder-swapping, and we will continue to make refinements to this mode for launch. More to come!”

Other Beta Feedback –

“Ground War and Invasion also got a lot of love from players in Beta. Thanks to our diligent fans, we have many bugs to work through in both of our Battle Map modes. We also have some improvements coming for AI navigation for Invasion.”

The Modern Warfare 2 release date is set for October 28, but those who pre-order the digital version of the game will be able to jump into the campaign on granted October 20.
