It’s time to get spooky because Luigi’s Mansion 3 is finally here! That’s right, on the scariest day of all, Halloween, Luigi is once again thrust into a terrifying experience. Six years have passed since the last entry in the series, and a lot has changed. So if you’re brave enough, come with us as we take a look at what lies in wait for Luigi at the Last Resort hotel!

Ghosts and Ghouls

Luigi's Mansion 3 ghosts

The Last Resort has a little ghost problem that you will need to fix.

A Luigi’s Mansion title wouldn’t be the same without spectres for Luigi to capture, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 is bursting at the seams with these ghastly apparitions. Ghosts wait in every hallway, in every room, and around every corner. Thankfully, Luigi has come equipped for such things. Introducing the Poltergust G-00. This back-mounted vacuum is capable of dispatching the corporeally-challenged in numerous ways.

The Poltergust is able to stun ghosts with a flash and suck them up into the chamber. For tougher ghosts, you will need to swing them back and forth, smacking them into the ground and other objects. You can also shoot out a plunger, allowing you to move around heavy items or remove the defences of some ghosts! It can even let out a strong gust of air, launching Luigi into the air and over obstacles.

Puzzling Poltergeists

Luigi's Mansion 3 puzzles

You will need to use the Poltergust G-00 to solve all kinds of puzzles.

There are more than just lowly minion ghosts to dispatch, there are also a variety of bosses and countless puzzles.

The bosses are your classic Nintendo experience. You will learn a new ability, and then put it to good use defeating a boss. As the game continues, the difficulty will ramp up and you will need to use every trick in the book if you’re going to clear the hotel of its spectral beings.

But outside of busting ghosts with brawn, you will be solving puzzles with brains. Every floor of the hotel is chock full of devilishly challenging puzzles. Can you figure out how best to use your Poltergust to solve the puzzles?

Spooky Multiplayer

Luigi's Mansion 3 coop Gooigi

Gooigi can get into areas Luigi can’t, and he also makes for a great coop partner!

Part of the fun of Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the multiplayer. The main story includes a co-op experience with one of Luigi’s new abilities: Gooigi. For solo players, Gooigi acts as a means of solving different puzzles. Gooigi can pass through spikes, slip through pipes, and generally get himself into places Luigi can’t. However, if you’ve got a friend. Gooigi represents a new mode of play.

By handing your pal a Joy-Con, you can both set off exploring and uncovering the mystery of the hotel. One player will be Luigi while the other controls Gooigi. It’s spooky co-op fun!

Then there’s the multiplayer. Luigi’s Mansion 3 brings back the iconic ScareScraper from the second title. Up to eight players can take to the ScareScraper in the online mode. You will need to work together, solving puzzles, completing challenges, and finding hidden Toads all in an effort to reach the top of the tower before time runs out.

Luigis Mansion 3 ScreamPark

ScreamPark is one of the new multiplayer modes included with Luigi’s Mansion 3. Much like ScareScraper, it can be played with 8 people!

Don’t want to play online and just want some couch multiplayer fun? Well Luigi’s Mansion 3 also has ScreamPark. In this mode, up to eight players on a single Nintendo Switch can play a variety of mini games using Luigi and Gooigi.

Whether you’re a newcomer to the series, or a ghost busting veteran, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is bound to be a spooky good time. With a new story to discover, new mechanics to learn, and awesome multiplayer modes to experience, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a terrifyingly excellent addition to your Nintendo Switch game library!
