How To Wavedash In Mortal Kombat 11

Learn how to pull off Mortal Kombat 11’s most advanced movement yet, the wavedash.

It hasn’t taken players long to figure out how to wavedash in Mortal Kombat 11. This new move, which exploits the cancelling of animations through inputting moves, has the characters dashing across the screen far quicker than intended. While the wavedash isn’t an actual in-game move you’ll find on the move list, anyone who wants to get the edge over their competition will need to know how to pull it off.

How to Wavedash in Mortal Kombat 11

The wavedash in Mortal Kombat 11, much like animation exploits in other games, requires some precise button presses. To perform a wavedash, you must input the following as quickly as possible:

  1. Dash
  2. Hold block
  3. Release hold
  4. Press forward
  5. Alternate block and forward

If done correctly, the fighter will appear to shuffle forward at an alarmingly quick pace. While the fighting style of Mortal Kombat 11 is fairly quick, characters aren’t necessarily intended to move this fast.

The wavedash move was discovered by Twitter user, Alioune85, and will surely prove to be extremely useful. Being able to quickly close the gap between you and an opponent allows you to control the flow of combat. This is especially useful if you’re just outside the effective range of a move and where simply moving forward would be too slow and leave you vulnerable to attack.

In saying all this, there’s a very good chance that the wavedash movement exploit in Mortal Kombat 11 will be fixed. This isn’t the intended function of dashing and blocking, so it stands to reason NetherRealm Studios may want to patch it out. However, there’s also the chance it will stay in the game. Advance moves like that, that exploit precise frames and movement, can make gameplay even more intense during tournaments and matches. These always add another layer to the combat, pushing players to the next level of skill. What do you think of Mortal Kombat 11’s wavedash technique, have you already mastered the movement?
