Survive the Scares in Man of Medan by Bringing Friends

Don’t go exploring the ghost ship in Man of Medan alone, bring your friends along and make them the ghost bait!

Survive the Scares in Man of Medan by Bringing Friends

Being alone in a horror game is one of the worst feelings in the world. You’re stranded. You have no one to rely on. The noise you heard? Definitely not a friend. But that’s all about to change with Man of Medan by Supermassive Games. The team behind the critically acclaimed Until Dawn are releasing another interactive, drama-focused game, this time set on a haunted ship. What makes this new title different, though, is how multiplayer is weaved through the entire experience.

So to set the scene, Man of Medan focuses on a group of people who have gone on an adventure to the South Pacific Ocean. The group is seeking treasure, friendship, and some excitement, but what they actually find is one of the most horrifying things someone can experience: becoming trapped in a sunken ghost ship, pursued by the spectres of the old crew.

Much like Until Dawn, Man of Medan focuses on exploring an environment and talking with the other characters. The events that happen along the way, and the end results, will all change depending on the dialogue options you choose. If you want to survive this terrifying experience, you will need to think hard about the choices you make along the way.

To heighten the tension, characters can meet an untimely demise. In a game that focuses on survival, having a character die is going to lower the chance of other characters making it out alive.

While Man of Medan can be played in an entirely solo experience, one of the main selling points is that it’s actually a multiplayer game. You don’t have to be alone while surviving the ghost ship. So let’s all breathe a sigh of relief. But how the multiplayer works is rather clever and intuitive.

There are two main options for setting up a multiplayer experience: online or couch “co-op”. We’ve got to use “co-op” here because can you really trust your friends to make the right decisions to keep you alive?

With the online co-op, two players take control of various characters. You will need to work together to survive or you could be selfish and try to save yourself. This is mode is perfect for you and a friend who lives far away or if you’re too scared to play by yourself – which is totally us!

With a couch full of friends, maybe the scares in Man of Medan won’t be so bad?

As for the couch co-op side of multiplayer, this is perfect for those group movie night sessions. Because Man of Medan is a narrative at its heart, even if you’re not playing you’re still enjoying the story. Everyone on the couch controls a different character, so you have even less control over the outcome and have to rely on your friends to do the right thing.

Whether you’re going it alone or you’ve got the comfort of friends, Man of Medan is guaranteed to scare your pants off. Man of Medan will be available on August 30 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Do you think you’re brave enough to face the ghost ship alone or will you bring some friends alone for the scare?
