Resident Evil Showcase Wows With Exciting Reveals

Resident Evil is one of the biggest franchises in gaming.  Whenever a new Resident Evil game is in the works, millions of people scour the internet to try and find any tidbit of information.  Capcom decided to do the hard work for fans by hosting a special Resident Evil showcase to discuss what’s on the horizon for the franchise.  The showcase was a great window into the world of Resident Evil Village, and it also played host to the reveal of a Resident Evil spin-off that’ll bring fans together in a completely new way.

Resident Evil Village

Without a doubt, Resident Evil Village was the star of the showcase.  Capcom finally gave fans an in-depth look at what the title has to offer, which will differ from previous Resident Evil games in some pretty notable ways.  While series aficionados are used to fighting off zombie hordes and other monstrosities, Resident Evil Village will have players going toe-to-toe with the vampiric Lady Dimitrescu and her three daughters.  These terrifying women are more sophisticated and conniving than any Resident Evil enemy before them, and they’re literally out for blood.

While there’s plenty of mystery surrounding Lady Dimitrescu and the family’s quest for blood, Resident Evil Village also brings back some fan-favorite features.  The Duke was introduced, who serves as Village’s version of the traveling merchant.  As you’d expect, you can meet up with the Duke at certain points throughout the game to purchase much-needed items, weapons, and upgrades.  The thing is, the Duke seems to have some rather nefarious intentions behind his merchant business, as he’s constantly reminding you that his goods and services will come at a price.

There’s still so much more to learn about Resident Evil Village, but the mystery is part of the fun.  Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to dive in and discover its secrets.  Resident Evil Village has been confirmed for a May 7th, 2021 worldwide release, and even better, PS4 and Xbox One versions are joining the previously-revealed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S options.  Players will have both digital and retail packages to choose from, including a Deluxe version with in-game goodies, and Collector’s Edition that features a Chris Redfield statue, poster, art book, SteelBook case, and a special Collector’s Edition box.

Maiden demo

Finding it hard to wait for Resident Evil Village?  If you have a Playstation 5, there’s a little something special to hold you over.  Capcom has released a “Maiden” demo exclusively for Playstation 5 owners, and it can be downloaded from the Playstation Store.  This demo aims to give a taste of what Resident Evil Village will be like, as it plops you down inside Dimitrescu Castle.  You play as an unnamed Maiden as she tries to escape the castle’s dungeon, and along the way, you’ll discover some juicy secrets about the Dimitrescu family.  The demo focuses on story and world-building, so don’t expect any combat.

Resident Evil Re:Verse

Resident Evil Village is just one way Capcom is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise.  Those who purchase Resident Evil Village will also be able to experience Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer-focused experience, at no additional cost.

Resident Evil Re:Verse is all about celebrating the entirety of Resident Evil’s history.  The game is an online-only multiplayer experience for four to six players, with everyone facing off in Deathmatch action.  Play as some of your favorite characters in the Resident Evil universe and take control of some iconic franchise weapons to wipe out the competition.  If you happen to get taken out by an opponent, you can transform into a bioweapon to wreak all sorts of havoc.  Snag some Virus Capsules scattered around the map to transform your bioweapon form into something even more devastating.  It’s an all-out brawl filled to the brim with Resident Evil fan-service, and one that’s certainly more fast-paced than we’re used to!

The Resident Evil franchise has left an indelible mark on the game industry while inspiring countless other titles over the years.  There’s no doubt that Resident Evil is going to be a major player in the game industry going forward, and some of its biggest and best experiences are on the horizon.  Capcom’s 25th anniversary plans are looking like some of the grandest adventures yet, and we can’t wait to see what else this horrifying franchise brings us.
