Who are the Chicago Huntsmen?

The inaugural season of the Call of Duty League kicked off with the Minnesota Rokkr hosting the very first Home Series Weekend event in the history of professional Call of Duty. All 12 of the city-based franchises competed in two matches, each across three days of adrenaline-fueled esports action in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Plenty of highlight performances took place throughout the league’s opening weekend with the Chicago Huntsmen behind a large amount of them. Finishing the first-ever Call of Duty League event with a 2-0 record against the Dallas Empire and Optic Gaming Los Angeles in dominant fashion, the Chicago Huntsmen look poised to be a powerhouse all season.

With this in mind, we decided to give you an in-depth look at who exactly the Chicago Huntsmen are and when you can look forward to watching them in action during the 2020 Call of Duty League season.

The Top Dogs

NRG Esports is the owner of the Chicago Huntsmen Call of Duty League franchise and is led by Co-CEOs Andy Miller and Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez. Esports fan will know NRG very well, as the organization has seen a great deal of success in a multitude of professional gaming scenes, which include being the owner of the Overwatch League Season 2 Champions, San Francisco Shock. H3CZ is the man behind the creation of the legendary Optic Gaming brand that became a household name in the Call of Duty world and the esports industry as a whole. Now, the Hall of Famer is already quickly building the Chicago Huntsmen into another iconic esports entity.

The Huntsmen

It was no secret that the Chicago Huntsmen were one of the best looking teams in the Call of Duty League on paper. A roster filled with a mixture of veteran and young players who all have shown exceptional talent over the past few years. You can find the full roster of the Chicago Huntsmen below:

  • Seth “Scump” Abner
  • Matthew “Formal” Piper
  • Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson
  • Dylan “Envoy” Hannon
  • Peirce “Gunless” Hillman
  • Jordan “General” General
  • Marcus “MBoZe” Blanks

Scump and Formal are arguably the two most popular and talented names in the world of Call of Duty esports. Both players have won numerous championships throughout their careers with the two former Optic Gaming teammates having won the 2017 Call of Duty World Championship together. The two players being reunited on the Chicago Huntsmen roster no doubt spells plenty of trouble for the 11 other franchises of the Call of Duty League.

Arcitys burst onto the Call of Duty esports during the Infinite Warfare season as a member of eUnited. Since then, Arcitys has proven countless times that he should be considered one of the best players in the world punctuated by the vital role he played in helping eUnited secure the 2019 Call of Duty World Championship. Now, Arcitys is playing for a different team for the time in his career and will undoubtedly help the franchise be a contender for the first-ever Call of Duty League Championship later this year.

Envoy is the young gun of the Chicago Huntsmen who showed that he belonged at the top of professional Call of Duty with the incredible season he had as a member of Gen.G in Black Ops 4. This high level of talent is sure to provide Chicago with all of the firepower it will need throughout the 2020 season.

Gunless was a fellow member of the same eUnited team that Arcitys was on when the two players established their place as premier talents in Call of Duty. The Canadian is consistently in the conversation when it comes to the best players in the scene every year and is always a threat to drop highlight-reel performances against any enemy team he finds himself against on the virtual battlefield.

MBoZe and General round out the roster for the Chicago Huntsmen and provide a mix of veteran leadership and young talent to the substitute role for the franchise that will make sure the team is still firing on all cylinders during any sort of roster change.

Troy “Sender” Michaels will be working to help lead this talented squad to as many victories as possible in his role as a coach. At the same time, John “x2Pac ThuGLorD” Hartley will be helping the team polish its Search and Destroy game in his role as analyst thanks to his expertise in the historic game mode.
