While the first two entries in the series established a single continuity through their storylines, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order completely disregards the story of its two predecessors and instead dives into its own original story by drawing upon inspiration from the blockbusters of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The storyline of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order completely stands on its own separate from Marvel Cinematic Universe, comics and other media.
The official synopsis for the title can be found below:
“Assemble your ultimate team of Marvel Super Heroes from a huge cast including the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, and more! Team up with friends to prevent galactic devastation at the hands of the mad cosmic tyrant Thanos and his ruthless warmasters, The Black Order.”
In order to defeat Thanos and The Black Order, players will have the ability to play as a vast array of heroes from the Marvel Universe. From various members of the X-Men to Iron Man himself, there are over 35 powerful playable characters, ranging from Daredevil to the mighty Thor, for players to take control of and use in their fight to stop the Infinity Stones from falling into the wrong hands.
This large number of characters allows players to have plenty of choices to choose from when forming the team best suited to help them defeat the Mad Titan and his evil forces. These many heroes also mean that players will have plenty of variety when playing with up to 3 teammates and can experiment to find their very best squad.
With all of the characters in the title possessing their own unique abilities, there will likely come a time where a certain character’s powers will be more suited for a situation than one that is in your party. Do not fret, however, as Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order gives players the ability to swap out heroes in their team at any time if you have less than four players in your party. Heroes can also be swapped in and out S.H.I.E.L.D. Point locations where the options to save your game and manage all of your heroes will also be available for players to take advantage of.
Each character has light and heavy attacks that they can use in a battle. Light attacks have the ability to combo together for intense pressure, while heavy attacks can only be performed one at a time but deliver much more devastating damage.
As mentioned before, all of the characters in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order possess unique abilities that can be vital tools to achieve victory with their high damage output. However, players must make sure they have enough Energy Points to use their abilities.
Finally, those battling Thanos and The Black Order have the Extreme Attack ability that provides them with the most powerful attack their characters can deliver when their Extreme Gauge is full. All four players can synchronize their Extreme Attacks together to form an Ultimate Alliance Extreme which is the most devastating move in the game.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is ready to give Nintendo Switch players a truly remarkable and unique experience in a superhero universe that has taken over the entertainment industry.
