Everything We Know About Call of Duty Black Ops 4

Reimagined multiplayer mechanics, brand new game modes, and a new zombie storyline, Black Ops 4 is looking spectacular.

Strap in, because all of our lives are about to change when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on October 12. Activision recently showed off the latest entry into the much-beloved Black Ops series with a stream highlighting all the changes coming, of which there are many!

Fast-Paced Multiplayer

First to be revealed was a revamped multiplayer that is promised to be one of the most engaging and adrenaline-pumping experiences in a Call of Duty to date. In a return to form, Blacks Ops 4 multiplayer will be boots-on-the-ground gameplay, that means no more thrust-jumping, no more wall-running, and unless you’re using a Specialist with the short-range zip line tool, your feet will be planted firmly on the earth.

Speaking of Specialists, there are multiple to choose from. Each one has unique abilities that can be used during the course of a match, the trick is coordinating their use with the other members of your team. Crash is a medic who can heal his allies while Recon can fire a sensor dart to remove some of the fog-of-war.

The healing mechanic is important as the way players regenerate health is entirely different. Gone are the days of automatic health regeneration, now players must manually choose when to heal by pressing a button to inject a healing remedy. This allows players to remain in combat for longer without having to disengage and means just because someone shot first doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed the kill – more counter-plays will appear.

In another first, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will feature predictable weapon recoil. This allows highly skilled gamers to learn a given weapon’s feel and recoil and train their muscles to adjust the sticks (or mouse) as necessary to ensure tight bullet grouping. Each weapon will also have their own attachments, making every gun truly unique.

Black Ops 4 multiplayer is shaping up to be one of the best MP experiences, with the iconic tight gunplay, authentic military feel, and the speed and fluidity we’ve all come to love.

Zombies Return

Fans of the iconic zombies from Call of Duty will be thrilled to see the leaps and bounds the new mode has made since its original inception in World at War. A whole new story has been created, featuring a brand new enemy sect hell-bent on raising an undead army.

It appears as if there will be sword-and-board style of combat featured in one of the three campaigns available at launch. This campaign will let players use sword and shield, spears, hammers, and more. The mode will also include never-before-seen customization tools that allow players to experience the horror-fuelled fight in any way they desire, be it increasing player damage, zombie speed and health, and more. For the solo players out there, zombies will now include full bot support, allowing some added assistance when human partners aren’t wanted or can’t be reached.

Voyage of Despair, as the name suggests, takes place on a luxurious cruise liner, where the squad seek to retrieve an ancient artefact responsible for creating zombies. And, as you can see in the above trailer, a lot of players will likely be familiar with this particular cruise ship – does the name Titanic ring any bells?

Battle Royale Mode

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will include, for the first time in Call of Duty history, its own battle royale mode called Blackout. This map is 1,500 times bigger than Nuketown and will consist of players’ favorite multiplayer maps, all in one giant map where gamers will fight to be the last player standing. This event is likely going to require expert understanding of map layout, as well as a keen ear to hear where enemies are fighting, which is where a headset like the Stealth 700 will shine. Thanks to the DTS 7.1 Surround Sound, you’ll be able to accurately pinpoint the exact location of enemy players based entirely on their shots and even their footsteps on different surfaces.

Aside from boots-on-the-ground combat, Blackout will also include land, sea, and air vehicles for the first time in a Call of Duty multiplayer game. The excitement doesn’t end there as each of the playable characters will be iconic people we’ve met in previous Black Ops titles as well as the Zombie mode stories. This is a monumental moment in Call of Duty history, and we can’t wait to get our hands on the Blackout mode.

It’s an exciting time to be a Call of Duty fan, and Black Ops 4 is definitely looking to impress. PC players will also be pleased to hear that the game will be available on the Blizzard app! Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is scheduled for released on October 12, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
