The Top 10 Underrated Nintendo Switch Games Of 2019

There were a variety of Nintendo Switch games throughout 2019 that we feel flew under the radar when they should have been soaring above the clouds.

2019 was a fantastic year when it came to new games being created for the Nintendo Switch. Blockbuster hits like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and others once again proved that some of the best video game experiences in the modern age call the Nintendo Switch home.

However, there was also a plentiful amount of titles that brought entertaining gameplay or impressive concepts to the high-profile console but were not the attention collectors of their peers. With 2019 coming to a close shortly, we decided to round up the 10 games we feel were underrated this past year and that you should dive into and give a try the next time you have your Nintendo Switch in your hands.

Yaga

Fortnite Chapter 2 Has Brought A Whole New Island Full of Goods Medals

Folktales are some of the best stories humans have to tell, and Yaga allows you to experience a wild Slavic one in the role of Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith. Players must overcome Ivan’s incredibly lousy luck through his adventures of battling ancient monsters with powerfully crafted weapons and magical items. An expertly crafted reactive world means players can have plenty of different experiences every time they start a new playthrough in this under-the-radar title.

Call of Cthulhu

Bloodborne

This particular title may have passed you by without you even noticing. However, fiction and horror lovers would be doing themselves a disservice if they did not jump into the mysterious world of Call of Cthulhu inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s iconic universe. Players take on the role of Private Investigator Pierce, who is inspecting the death of the Hawkins family on Darkwater Island. Pierce soon is faced with a plethora of horrors that will have you at the edge of your seat as you unravel the intriguing mystery this game offers.

Yuri

There is a wide variety of platformers available on the Nintendo Switch. This crowded genre does not mean a title like Yuri should go unnoticed. Yuri delivers a highly unique and soothing artistic style to its platformer gameplay that makes the indie gem a perfect game for Nintendo Switch players to unwind at the end of a long day.

Killer Queen Black

2019’s Best PC Games To Play Over The Holidays Borderlands 3

We are sticking with platformers for the next entry on our list. Killer Queen Black is not your ordinary platformer, however. This title provides an exciting dose of four versus four multiplayer gameplay that makes the experience of Killer Queen Black a must-try for any player looking for an exciting twist on the typical platformer style.

DC Universe Online

2019’s Best PC Games To Play Over The Holidays Call of Duty Modern Warfare

DC Universe Online has been around for some time. This is perhaps why it did not get a ton of buzz when it appeared on the Nintendo Switch. This should not be the case, though. This 2019 game provides players with one of the console’s only extensive MMO experiences set in the high-profile DC Comics universe where you can be the hero or villain you have always dreamed of being.

Stranger Things 3: The Game

2019’s Best PC Games To Play Over The Holidays Mortal Kombat 11

It would be crazy to think that something related to Stranger Things is underrated, but the companion game to the hit show’s third season was not at the top of the charts when it released. Any fan of the franchise would be doing themselves a disservice if they didn’t jump into the retro-styled adventure of Stranger Things 3: The Game that brings new elements to the show’s universe. Not to mention, you can duke it out as one of 12 fan-favorite characters from the show in this exciting experience that should no longer be flying under your radar.

Slay The Spire

2019’s Best PC Games To Play Over The Holidays Sekiro Shadows Die Twice

The card game and roguelike combo title of Slay The Spire may not have gotten the lavish press treatment of other Nintendo Switch releases in 2019. That is a shame considering this blending of genres resulted in a game that brings forth riveting and unique gameplay in an ever-changing world where there is always something new to discover or experience.

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition

2019’s Best PC Games To Play Over The Holidays The Outer Worlds

Darksiders II is a veteran game in the industry. However, the Nintendo Switch was gifted to the treat of Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition. This is something you should try if you overlooked the older game being added to the new console. The adrenaline-fueled combat and entertaining story is compounded with the inclusion of all of the game’s DLC and revamped graphics and gameplay elements in one great package for players needing a new game to sink their time into.

DAEMON X MACHINA

2019’s Best PC Games To Play Over The Holidays

This mech centered title throws gamers into an original world where players can create a variety of abilities and weapons from their environment to use in classic and entertaining giant mech battles. There will be plenty of unique moments for you to witness, as you make your way through what the DAEMON X MACHINA developers claim to be the “best mech action game” out there. You will never be left wanting for more high-octane and satisfying action when diving into the universe of DAEMON X MACHINA.

KILL la KILL -IF

There are plenty of anime and fighting games to command your attention on the Nintendo Switch. This is why it is not shocking if KILL la KILL -IF possibly slipped by you in 2019, but it shouldn’t anymore considering what it brings to fans of both genres. KILL la KILL -IF brings players graphics and gameplay that both look like they were ripped straight from the anime. A brand new story that focuses on Satsuki as the protagonist brings an entirely original story element to the franchise’s universe in an exhilarating manner that no one should overlook.

2020 is sure to be another exciting year when it comes to how the Nintendo Switch library of games will expand. The underrated games that we just discussed are clear examples that there will no doubt be even more hidden gems ready for players to experience like there were in 2019. So, keep your eyes peeled and take a chance on the games that may not be drawing the spotlight when you are looking to add that next title to your collection.
