Not only is the third season of Strangers Things on Netflix catching attention, Strangers Things 3: The Game is delivering plenty of sci-fi 80’s excitement on its own.

Strangers Things 3 Explodes Onto Scene With New Netflix Season and Game

There is no denying that the Netflix series of Strangers Things has become one of the most popular shows in the entire world. Since its initial launch, the sci-fi infused 80s series has captivated audiences with its unique and entertaining plot and a cast filled with an array of lovable characters.

The third season of Strangers Things became available for everyone around the globe to binge-watch on July 4th and will no doubt be a part of the holiday celebrations for many fans. However, the new string of Netflix episodes is not the only medium for fans to enjoy Season 3 of Strangers Things. A brand new video game dubbed Strangers Things 3: The Game also releases on July 4th and allows players to battle the forces of the Upside Down as their favorite Hawkins residents.

Developed by BonusXP, Strangers Things 3: The Game “is the official companion game to Season 3 of the hit original series! Play through familiar events from the series while also uncovering never-before-seen quests, character interactions, and secrets! This adventure game blends a distinctively retro art style with modern gameplay mechanics to deliver nostalgic fun with a fresh new twist.”

While this new companion game will allow players to team up as 12 characters from the hit series and experience the events from the third season of the show around them, it will also have its own exclusive set of content that will expand the Strangers Things universe even further than the new set of Netflix episodes. The allure of seeing brand new pieces of the series’ universe become available for fans to explore makes this title a must-play for Stranger Things fanatics, but it’s also an interesting exploration of the world and events that won’t leave anyone out.

These never-before-seen quests, character interactions, and secrets also turn Strangers Things 3: The Game into much more than just allowing players to play through what happens in the third season. It offers its own unique and entertaining experience as a piece of a medium in the franchise while at the same time tying into the latest chapter of the series.

The meat and potatoes of the action of Strangers Things 3: The Game will indeed though focus on the major points of the show’s Season 3 storyline where the worst threat that the Upside Down has ever spawned threatens to destroy Hawkins, Indiana and everyone who inhabits the quaint little town.

A horrible monster from the upside down slithers forward

It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer’s heating up. School’s out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood… Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms,” according to the official description of Strangers Things Season 3 revealed by Netflix. “When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.”

It’s probably safe to assume that most people would enjoy getting to play a AAA developed Strangers Things game based on Season 3. However, with the 1980s setting of the Netflix series being such an integral part of the show’s theme, it is only fitting the official companion game utilizes the retro style art and gameplay that was the norm and highlight of games developed during the show’s setting. The art direction is sure to provide plenty of nostalgia for fans who lived in the decade.

This retro-style art and gameplay will be the core of the experience. Players will get to jump into with Strangers Things 3: The Game where you will be able to control the central characters of the series, including Will, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Max, Steve, Jonathan, Joyce, Nancy, Hopper, Erica, and Eleven. Each of the characters possesses a unique fighting style that will provide plenty of opportunities for various battles in each of your playthroughs. What could be better than bulldozing through enemies with the powerful abilities of Chief Hopper or taking out groups with the psychic abilities of Eleven?
