Fortnite’s Latest Updates Adds New Weapons And Even More Star Wars Magic

One of the main reasons Fortnite continues to be massively popular is due to the constant churn of new content.  Epic is always cooking up something fresh for its millions of battle royale fans, be it new skins, emotes, locations, and more.  The latest fruits of that labor have just been revealed, as Fortnite has been updated to version 15.40.  These additions, as well as previous updates, brings some great new features that are sure to keep fans running and gunning for months to come.

Kit's Cantina from above, with the rest of the Fortnite map behind it.

It’s the cantina exactly as you remember it – surrounded by purple crystals.

Kit’s Cantina

The biggest addition from the recent updates has to be Kit’s Cantina, a new spot to drop into on Battle Royale Island.  Kit’s Cantina is yet another element lifted from Disney’s hugely successful Mandalorian TV series, joining the previously-released Dyn Jarren skin and Grogu back bling.

You can swing by Kit’s Cantina by visiting the upper part of the desert area in between Weeping Woods and Hunter’s Haven.  Once you swoop in close, it’ll be easy to spot the location, as the outside is decorated with Stormtrooper helmets on pikes.  Wander inside and check out the bar, complete with plenty of Bantha milk.  Of course, it wouldn’t be a Star Wars cantina visit without a musical performance, so make sure to stick around for the center stage action.  There’s even an Easter egg that lets you enjoy the classic cantina tune “Mad About Me” from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

While new locations in Fortnite are always exciting, the real fun comes from fresh options for securing that Victory Royale.  Thankfully, the update has added in a few different weapons to mess around with and bring the boom.

The new missile-launching Burst Quad Launcher

Want to take down walls or towers? The Burst Quad Launcher’s what you’re looking for.

Burst Quad Launcher

On the offensive side of things is the Burst Quad Launcher, which is for players who like to cause a ton of mayhem.  This rocket launcher chambers four rockets, and lets you fire out two of those rockets at the same time.  After your first four rockets are fired, it takes about five seconds to reload a new set.

Hitting an enemy with a rocket will dish out 42 points of damage, which doesn’t seem like too much in the grand scheme of things.  That’s because this weapon is more meant for structure bombardment, rather than enemy devastation.  If you see a team building a fort to the high heavens, unleash the Burst Quad Launcher to create a massive headache for them.  The explosive rounds and short reload time will mean you can knock down their structures just as quickly as they create them.  Do they have more materials than you do rockets?  It’ll be fun to find out!

You can pick up the Burst Quad Launcher from the Fishstick NPC, and he’ll need 600 Gold Bars before he forks it over.

The all-new chug cannon healing weapon.

Be the MVP of your team by keeping everyone else alive with the Chug Cannon.

Chug Cannon

While the Burst Quad Launcher is all about explosive onslaughts, the other new weapon in Fortnite is one you’ll want to turn on your own squad.  Instead of whittling away enemy health, the Chug Cannon helps replenish the health and shield of your team.

The Chug Cannon can be an absolutely invaluable item to have in your inventory.  Instead of lugging around multiple shield pots or medkits, having just one Chug Cannon will do the trick.  Just like Chug Splash, a shot from the Chug Cannon will top off your health first, and then let you load up on shield.  Each blast from the Cannon will net you 18 points for health or shield, so the shots can certainly add up quickly.

That’s not the best part of the Chug Cannon though.  Just like the retired Bandage Bazooka, the Chug Cannon refills itself over time.  No need to pick up ammo cartridges or anything else to make it work.  All you have to do is wait for the cooldown period to wrap, and then you’re good to go for another volley.  From the second you grab this bad boy to the final moments of the match, the Chug Cannon can be the ultimate lifesaver.

If you want to add the Chug Cannon to your list of options, you’ll have to visit the NPC Remedy.  She’ll give you the Chug Cannon for 600 Gold Bars.

Flint-Knock Pistol

The Chug Cannon and Burst Quad Launcher aren’t the only goodies you’ll get to play within Fortnite’s latest update. While both of those weapons are new, Epic has also reached deep into the Fortnite vault to bring back a fan favorite. The explosive Flint-Knock Pistol has found its way back to Battle Royale Island, and as always, it’s ready to pack a punch.

The Flint-Knock Pistol offers up an extremely powerful single shot that can devastate your opponents. If you line up a headshot and things go just right, you can take almost anyone out in a single hit. This pistol also has the power to decimate cover being built by other players. The thing is, the Flint-Knock Pistol’s accuracy isn’t all that great, and it has a very short range. It’s not the easiest weapon to use and it requires you to get up-close-and-personal, but if you’re willing to deal with the trade-offs, you could be a serious threat in close-quarters combat.

Air Royale and Floor Is Lava LTMs

Finally, Epic revealed that two classic Limited-Time Matches are going to make a return as well. The latest update paves the way for both the Air Royale and Floor is Lava LTMs. Air Royale has you take to the skies in Duos for some dogfighting action, while Floor Is Lava slowly floods the map with lava, starting with the lowest points and working upwards. Epic didn’t reveal when exactly these modes would be added back into the rotation, but we should certainly expect them within the next week or two.
