Everything We Know About Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has just been revealed and the community is scrambling to discover as much information as possible about Respawn Entertainment’s first Star Wars game.

A short time ago, in a galaxy not so far away (in fact, right here), a new Star Wars game was announced. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is a brand new entry into the much beloved franchise that started 40 years ago. Currently in development by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is going to take players on an unforgettable journey set in the dark times between Episodes III and IV.

There’s a lot to unpack from the panel and the trailer, so let’s dive right in and talk about everything we know about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

A New Hero

Players will be taking on the role of Cal Kestis, a Force-sensitive man who managed to survive Order 66. This new protagonist is played by none other than Cameron Monaghan, known for his role as Ian Gallagher in Shameless and Jerome Valeska in Gotham. Cal is a part of a scrapper guild, a group that tears apart star ships. It’s not a glamorous job, but it meets one of the rules Cal lives by: don’t stand out. But the world of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is bigger than just one man, and so a whole story has been expertly crafted.

A Jedi Family

One of the first things Respawn wanted to disclose was that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single player game with a focus on the story and with no multiplayer or microtransactions. This is obviously a big deal given there hasn’t been a single player Star Wars game in a long time. A focus on a narrative-driven single player experience is obviously huge, and little bits of information about this story were discussed during the panel.

We know we’ll be playing as Cal Kestis, but what we also found out was that he’s going to be making a few friends along the way. Cere is a former Jedi Knight, who is also in hiding and will be taking on the role of mentor, however this isn’t your typical Padawan-Master setup. Expect this to feel a little bit more like a family situation as opposed to the strict teacher-student union seen in the sequels.

Cal will also have a helpful little droid robot friend called BD-1. This cute little robot will be Cal’s sidekick as he fights to survive against the Sith. BD-1 isn’t just a good-looking face, it also comes with some helpful tools, like a flashlight.

The Empire is Back

The Empire isn’t going to be taking things easy on you. Purge Troopers are a new soldier in the Empire’s army who are specifically tasked with tracking down any surviving Force-sensitive people and killing them. However, for particularly special circumstances, an Inquisitor will be dispatched to handle the Force user, and wouldn’t you know it, Cal receives this honor.

The Second Sister Inquisitor can be seen in the reveal trailer, decked out in black and donning a pretty badass looking helmet. While we have no idea how the story will unfold, it’s safe to say that the Second Sister will be a major factor in the story and is certainly no push-over.

Feel the Force

A good Star Wars game needs two things, the Force and lightsabers, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has both. As a third-person adventure game with a focus on melee, you will be using the lightsaber and the Force to deal with the enemies you face. During the panel, the developers were quick to mention that this isn’t a hack ‘n’ slash type of Star Wars game, you will need to assess each enemy before diving in. Expect to string together your different moves and abilities into a gorgeous flow of combat that will be easy to learn but difficult to master.

As for where the lightsaber comes from, that’s all shrouded in mystery. What we do know about the lightsaber is that it is intimately tied to the story. Who it belongs to will no doubt be something we all eagerly try to uncover once the game launches. Speaking of which…

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Release Date

Respawn Entertainment was nice enough to actually offer up a release date for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Players looking to get their hands on the first single player Star Wars game in years won’t have to wait long as the game is set to release on November 15, 2019 – that’s only a few months away! Between now and then, there’s sure to be more information dripping out and gameplay showcased.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has only just been revealed and we’re already about as excited as we can handle. There is more news on the horizon and we can’t wait to dissect every bit of information we hear about Respawn’s first game in the Star Wars universe!
