There seems no denying it now, after one of the rockiest launches we can remember, it seems clear that Cyberpunk 2077 has well and truly turned the corner. Whilst update 1.5 was a soft relaunch for the game, update 1.6 started to add a whole load of transmog features and more player customisations that fans have been requesting for months on end. Although CD Projekt Red has decided to cease all major updates for PS4 and Xbox One consoles so they can focus on current-gen consoles and PC, there are still plenty of good things to look forward to for the game. Not to mention a new expansion too.
So for any fans of Night City who might be keen on knowing what’s coming next, read on, for absolutely everything we know so far about Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.7
When is the next Cyberpunk 2077 update coming?
At the time of writing, there is no confirmed release date for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.6 and it’s worth keeping in mind that CD Projekt Red has most certainly moved development to other projects since the game released.
The Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 update was released on February 15, with the 1.6 Update arriving 6 months (and 23 days) later on September 6. Prior to Patch 1.5, players similarly waited 5 months for a major update.
With this in mind, it seems a safe bet to assume the next major update for Cyberpunk 2077 – which we believe will be 1.7 – could arrive somewhere between the next 5 to 7 months. We certainly wouldn’t expect to see it until 2023.
If we had to make a guess, we think it might arrive in April 2023, at the start of the company’s next financial year.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.7 New Features
During CD Projekt Red’s Night City Wire: Edgerunners Special the team spoke about a whole heap of new features coming in the future.
The only difficulty is knowing if these features are all planned to release with the game’s next major update – which we suspect would be version 1.7 – or spread out over a series of updates for the game. Likewise, it’s hard to tell how many of these new features are planned for upcoming updates, or the eventual release of the games Phantom Liberty DLC expansion.
For now, we think that most of the features specifically named by game director Gabriel Amatangelo (listed below) will arrive in the Cyberpunk 2077 1.7 update:
- Complete overhaul of the police system
- Vehicle-to-vehicle combat
- New gameplay loop for melee
- New actions in the perk tree
- More Cyberware
That’s everything you need to know about the next update for Cyberpunk 2077, but as soon as we learn more about what’s coming, we’ll be sure to update this page.
