Cyberpunk 2077 Lifepath Guide

Cyberpunk 2077 Lifepath Guide

It’s hard to believe, but Cyberpunk 2077 is just a week out from launching.  The 8-year wait is almost over!  Fans will finally be able to stop drooling over trailers and instead dive in soon enough.  Getting the chance to finally play the game instead of talking about it is going to be a surreal experience.  With all there is to see and do in Cyberpunk 2077, the long wait should be more than worth it.

There’s actually one way fans can prepare for Cyberpunk 2077’s arrival in order to make for a smooth transition into the game.  Right at the get-go, players will be tasked with choosing a Lifepath for their character.  This choice could very well dictate some of the circumstances you find yourself in, characters you meet, and adventures you take on.  Cyberpunk 2077 will no doubt offer countless moments with important decisions, but your Lifepath can make the difference between taking the first step towards greatness or stumbling out of the gate.

What are Lifepaths?

The Lifepath you pick is literally the building blocks for your journey.  Lifepaths come from the tabletop origins of the Cyberpunk universe, dictating your character’s upbringing, personality, and more.  The Lifepath choice you make in Cyberpunk 2077 will impact how the game starts for you, the dialog choices you’re given, the characters you’ll mesh or butt heads with, and much more.  Putting thought into which Lifepath you want to travel down will certainly lead to a unique experience once all factors are considered.

The three lifepaths

Cyberpunk 2077 may have numerous areas of customization and personal input, but there are just three Lifepaths to pick from.  Your entire adventure depends on which path you pick, so choose wisely.

Players who like to travel alone and handle things themselves might want to go the Nomad route.  Instead of starting out in Night City, a Nomadic player will experience their origin on the city outskirts in a zone called the Badlands.  Your home sits in the ruins of a city that’s now been overtaken by the desert.  Nomadic players used to be a part of a clan, but those bonds have long since shattered.  Your story starts when you decide to move on from the Badlands to try and make a better life for yourself in Night City…and by any means necessary.

The Street Kid Lifepath is for those who like to float between small town and big city life.  Street Kids grew up in Heywood, where they used to tussle with the cops and cause general mischief.  This paved the way for life in and around gangs, which obviously led to some violent scuffles.  The Street Kid Lifepath connects you with the Fixer career, which has you doing all sorts of jobs for the higher-ups in Night City.  Taking on these tasks has given you a keen knowledge of Night City, along with the shady alleys and seedy underbelly the city tries to hide.

While Nomads live life on the outskirts and Street Kids dabble with Night City, the Corporate Lifepath puts you smack-dab in the middle of the upper echelon.  You’re going to be working within the Arasaka Corporation, negotiating bigtime deals and keeping major clients happy.  Unfortunately for you, some of the dealings at the Arasaka Corporation aren’t going so well.  One wrong move could end up losing you billions, while making some seriously high-powered enemies at the same time.  Learn how to dance the Corporate dance and keep people happy in order to save your skin, and you might gain access to some of the best tech Night City has to offer.

Choosing your Lifepath is no easy task, but it’s one of the great elements of Cyberpunk 2077.  Not only can each Lifepath be played in a number of different ways, you can also jump into the other Lifepaths to start a new experience. There will be things to do and see in each Lifepath that you’ll never get to try otherwise, giving you plenty to do when the credits roll for the first time.  Each Lifepath will present its own challenges and benefits, and only the best players will be able to master all three.  Think you’re up for it?
