Overwatch 2 Leak Confirms Battle Pass And More Features

Overwatch 2 was revealed at BlizzCon in November 2019 and after what feels like an excruciatingly long wait, the game’s closed beta is set to finally begin later this month.

Up until this point, the game has been generally kept tightly under wraps, bar the occasional leak. But even then, it’s fair to say that there’s not been a whole lot of info about the hotly anticipated sequel. So whenever we do get a morsel of info, it’s always warmly received by fans of the shooter.

Thankfully, we have some more news to share, as it appears as though a former Overwatch 2 developer has revealed a bit more about the game via some screenshots uploaded to Artstation.

Over the weekend fans spotted that Jayson Kirby – Overwatch’s former UI Designer –  shared some concept images on Artstation. On the face of it, the images look pretty straightforward. That is until you take a closer look and spot some of the additional menu systems on the image.

The one which jumps off the screen first and foremost is a tab that mentions a battle pass, which is particularly interesting given Overwatch is one of the few games yet to adopt some sort of battle pass feature. For some fans, this might not come as too much of a surprise since former game director Jeff Kaplan has made previous comments about the possibility of a Battle Pass system in Overwatch 2.

In addition, fans also spotted another potential change on another image, which seems to suggest players will be able to earn Hero XP and talent unlocks from the Quick Play playlist.

It’s worth stating that until the game launches proper, these images are still only pieces of concept designs for the game, and it’s quite possible these new features or changes don’t make it into the final game.

Hopefully though, with the closed beta coming later this month we’ll get plenty more info on some of these all-important features.
