New Need For Speed Game Reveal Is Imminent Ahead Of December Release, Report Suggests

Sometime ago Electronic Arts confirmed during a Q4 Earnings Call that their new ‘Need for Speed’ game will release during the Financial Year 23 Q3. In other words, it was dur to arrive somewhere between 1 October and 31 December.

You’ll notice that it’s nearly October and we’ve barely heard a peep about the new game from EA or Criterion.

However, that could all change very soon, with industry insider Tom Henderson today reporting that the reveal for the next Need for Speed title is ‘Imminent’

Writing on Insider-Gaming, Henderson confirmed that despite constant behind-the-scenes delays, it’s understood that the long-awaited reveal will take place within the next 2 weeks. Reportedly, the new game is titled ‘Need for Speed Unbound’.

The report goes on to suggest that the new game will be a more multiplayer focussed affair featuring a new mechanic called ‘meetups’.

“Meetups will allow people to race against one another in different locations around the map,” Henderson claimed. “In addition, it’s been said that Need for Speed Unbound will feature unique maps that are completely unique to the Need for Speed franchise.”

Earlier this year a few leaks had also revealed that the game could incorporate ‘anime elements’ within the game. If you’re curious how that might work it’s suggested that you would see “Fire, smoke, flames, etc” appearing out of your car as you drift, jump and crash in-game.

It’s also been revealed that Need for Speed Unbound will release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|s, and PC. There’s no official word on whether the game is also planned to release on PS4 or Xbox One.

Sources also indicated that Need for Speed Unbound will release on December 2nd, 2022. So we don’t have long to wait before we can try it out.
