E3 2017 Games We Want Now!

E3 2017 was a phenomenal ride where dozens, if not hundreds, of games were shown, played, and demoed in front of thousands of attendees. It’s always hard to pick your favorite game, but below we’ve got seven games from E3 2017 that we want now!

Sea of Thieves

We’ve known about Sea of Thieves for a year or so now, but it doesn’t stop us from wanting it any less. Rare’s pirate adventure game received a brand new gameplay trailer at E3 2017 and it was full of pirate shenanigans and a voice over that was equal parts hilarious and informative.

Shown in the trailer was a treasure hunting adventure. The pirates had a scroll on which some classic pirate clues were written, which inevitably led them to an island. After making it to land and discovering a cave, the pirates found themselves laden with pirate boot, being chased by skeletons back to their ship as a storm was rolling in over the seas. Once aboard the ship, enemy pirates began to attack! Then it all went pear-shaped as the storm thrashed the ships, resulting in the captain going overboard.

From the gorgeous water design and ship-to-ship combat, to the underwater sections full of sharks and the island-hopping search for treasure, Sea of Thieves is looking to be one of the hottest games revealed at E3.

Anthem

No one was anticipating a new BioWare title to be revealed at E3 2017, but here we are with Anthem, a brand new IP from the team behind the likes of Mass Effect and Dragon Age. A rich universe was unveiled during the trailer as the player entered a clustered bazar that led to a platform where a few exo-suits stood, and then it all kicked off.

Standing on the edge of a mountain, looking out over a lush and expansive world full of monumental structures buried in nature, the player on-screen takes a step forward and begins to fly. The exo-suit activates a jetpack and we are treated to a fly-by of the surrounding wildlife.

Anthem is looking like a cross between Mass Effect and Destiny, with an environment so beautifully designed it’s enough to make our eyes water. We cannot wait to see more of this title and its one we want sooner rather than later.

Days Gone

During Sony’s Press Conference we got another special look at Days Gone, a post-apocalyptic survival horror game with zombies the like of which we haven’t seen in years. Gone are the days of boring zombies that pose no threat, these zombies are truly terrifying: they run fast, travel in packs, rip people to shreds, and can infect bears!

We get a little look at the gameplay in this reveal that shows not only the classic distract-using-rocks method, but a mechanic based entirely around sound. Cause an enemy to make too much noise and they will attract the ferocious zombies that swarm over the hills like a crashing wave of flesh. We need this game now, like, preferably yesterday.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

The announcement of Beyond Good & Evil 2 was one of the biggest surprises of E3 2017 that left the audience speechless and on their feet applauding. Ubisoft hit a homerun with this reveal and while we didn’t see any gameplay, we got a sneak peek at the universe we’ll get to inhabit in the near future.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel to the original story, set in a world where all manner of alien lifeforms live, work, and play together in an Asian-style cyberpunk city. From talking English monkeys to humanoid-pigs, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is going to be full of unique characters for us to experience. We want this game now. But we’ll just have to wait!

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Bethesda unveiled their latest entry into the critically acclaimed Wolfenstein reboot in the form of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. This gritty series is known for its alternative take on the World War 2 era and what happened thereafter.

In this reveal trailer we get to see the guys we love to hate, Nazis, being blown to bits by none other than William J. Blazkowicz. Though not much was shown about the story, The New Colossus appears to be set during another American Revolution against the ruling regime. Blazkowicz will need to work with a resistance group to once again fight the Nazis.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be hitting our consoles and PC on October 27, 2017.

Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo was the last company to take the stage at E3 2017 and they did not disappoint. Not only did we get another Super Mario Odyssey trailer, but during their Treehouse stream we got to see huge amounts of gameplay for this upcoming Mario title.

Mario now has a bunch of new moves available to him, such as where he can throw his hat out and take control of an object or enemy. This can be used to become a Bullet Bill, Goomba, and even a tank!

Super Mario Odyssey is shaping up to be a wild ride on the Switch, and we cannot wait to dive into New Donk City. The New York-inspired city looks to be full of activities and seeing Mario run around this life-like world is phenomenal. We only have to wait until October 27, 2017 to get our own copy.

Metroid: Samus Returns

Finally, one title we cannot wait to get our mitts on is Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS. This latest Metroid game was revealed during Nintendo’s Treehouse segment after their main video-presentation. MercurySteam, the developers of Castlevania: Lords of Shadows, are taking the helm of this re-imagining of the original Metroid II: Samus Returns, a Game Boy game from 1991.

Metroid: Samus Returns will take what the old title achieved and bring it to the new era. In the action-packed trailer, we got to see Samus employ a lot of old-school fighting styles through the power of the 3DS. Metroid is such an iconic game and to see this old-school title brought to the 3DS is truly exciting – we need this ASAP! Good thing it’s releasing September 15, 2017.

With a few titles releasing this year, some next year, and others merely announced, getting excited about upcoming games is par the course for E3. We can’t wait to get our hands on the above titles, but what are your must-have games from E3 2017?
