The Best Dreams Community Creations

Our dreams are, unfortunately, quite boring. While others are riding around on the backs of dinosaurs, our nights let us live out the dull stress of an unfiled tax return or an awkward conversation with the in-laws. Thankfully, Media Molecule’s Dreams has now released, so we can forget about our own boring sleep fillers and enjoy the worlds that other players have conjured from the depths of their imagination.

Dreams may have only just launched, but thanks to early betas there’s already a glut of fabulous games to explore. If you’re getting started with Dreams, these are the best community creations so far that we think you should definitely try out.

The Starbrushed Peak

What is it?
An adorable little story which follows a young girl Hannie as she makes her way up to the Starbrushed Peak, a mountaintop retreat at which the stars float down from the sky. It’s a gentle, warming little adventure that makes for a great introduction to the unique tales Dreams players are eager to tell.

SlidEout 3019

What is it?

One of the most polished Dreams creations we’ve seen. SlidEout 3019 is a rapid futuristic racer directly inspired by the Wipeout franchise. Tear around the metal course and attempt to record as fast a lap as possible while you marvel at the detailed visuals.

Splatty’s Adventure

What is it?

A full 3D platformer in one Dreams creation. Splatty’s Adventure has been a long project for creator RDKatrell222 and their collaborators. Paintbrush-wielding hero Splatty sets out to save their colorful world from the grip of mundane conformity.  Attacks, wall running, and even time-slowing powers have all been animated for the distinct levels of Splatty’s Adventure, which is still in development today. Splatty’s Adventure is definitely one to check back on several months after Dreams’ launch.

Crash Bandicoot TripSanity 7+ Levels/Bosses

What is it?

Dreams is filled to the brim with remakes of other gaming titles, from worryingly accurate PT recreations to bold attempts to bring old-school Tomb Raider to life. None are quite so content filled as Milbox’s Crash Bandicoot dream though. Featuring more than seven levels to play through, complete with sound effects and bosses, the work that’s gone into this remake is impressive, to say the least. It’s almost as though you’re playing old school Crash with a pastel paint filter draped over the top.

The missing constellation

What is it?

SlidEout 3019 creator Gaffreman is back with another phenomenal Dreams creation which showcases just how talented a creator they are. The Missing Constellation was created as a collaboration with musician Piano Novel for a Dreams showcase. Exploring a small world you expand a piano composition which in turn grants you the power to fly further across the landscape. It’s a serene, beautiful experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Divide

A field of blue black covered with dots and lines, divided by blue lines and the named "Divide" across the center

What is it?

We’ve seen plenty of excellent 3D creations, so we’ll close with a wonderful 2D one as well. Divide was created early in Dreams’ beta but remains a brilliant little game that’s well worth a quick play. Just like mobile titles such as Downwell, the premise is simple: Make your line travel as far as you can down the randomly generated path, collecting points without hitting an obstacle. The only control you have? To divide, splitting yourself in two. The more you split, the more points you can collect, but the greater your chances of colliding with a wall or obstacle.

Those are the best Dreams creations we’ve seen in the run-up to launch, but we’ve no doubt there are plenty of other fantastic Dreams out there to be explored. With the game now officially out in the wild, we can’t wait to see even more weird, wacky and wonderful creations from the Dreams community.
