Call of Duty League 2021 Gears Up For Its Debut

Call of Duty fans have been waiting patiently for their eSports fix, and thankfully their time has almost come.  The first Call of Duty League 2021 details have been shared, and it’s already clear we’re in for an action-packed season.  The pandemic has led to a few tweaks and changes in how tournaments are played, but the battles themselves should be as entertaining as ever.  This is also the first full season where fans get to see Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer front-and-center.  What more could an operator want?!

While the true start of the Call of Duty League season starts in February, fans will get a taste of the action on January 23rd and 24th via the Kickoff Classic.  This is a special event to honor the one-year anniversary of the Call of Duty League, and it’s also meant as a way to ease participants into the full season.  This tournament has fans vote on the matches through online polls, which should make for quite an interesting lineup.  These matches don’t count toward the stats in the official season, but they’re no doubt important for warming up.

If you’re only interested in the season action that counts, then you’ll want to turn your attention to February 11th through the 14th.  This is the Call of Duty League opening weekend, which will be hosted by Atlanta FaZe.  All 12 teams in the league will square off against one another in 4v4 matches, which is a change from last season, as the League had temporarily shifted to 5v5.  The team lineup includes the following.

  • Atlanta FaZe
  • OpTic Chicago
  • Dallas Empire
  • Florida Mutineers
  • London Royal Ravens
  • LA Guerrillas
  • LA Thieves
  • Minnesota Rokkr
  • New York Subliners
  • Paris Legion
  • Seattle Surge
  • Toronto Ultra

Information on how official matches will play out and the prizes up for grabs has not been shared yet, but we know it’s coming soon.  Activision will be sharing new details on the entire season at the Kickoff Classic, giving yet another reason to tune into that early event.  There’s sure to be some unique wrinkles thrown into the competition for 2021 due to Cold War taking the stage, as well as the shift to playing online.  No matter what, get ready for a Call of Duty League like you’ve never seen before!
