10 Best Games in Apple Arcade

Out of over a hundred games on Apple Arcade, here are 10 you absolutely have to play right this second!

10 Best Games in Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade is finally here, and there are a whole lot of games to play. It can be a bit overwhelming, so we’ve collected some of our favorites titles at the moment. Not too sure where to start? Give one of these a shot!

What is Apple Arcade?

Apple Arcade is Apple’s new video game subscription service. For $4.99 a month, players can get access to more than 100 games. It’s kind of like Xbox Game Pass but for mobile games! One difference to playing mobile games on Apple Arcade compared to usual mobile games is that there are no ads. You’re not going to be interrupted half way through your session to be asked to watch an ad for a game you’re not interested in. To sweeten the deal even more, new games are constantly being added to the catalogue, and from well-known developers as well as some first-time creators.

Best Games in Apple Arcade

With so many games on offer in Apple Arcade, it can be tough to know where to start. There are a lot of excellent titles on offer, and it can sometimes feel like you spend more time searching for something to play than actually playing. So below are some of our top picks.

Grindstone

From the creators of Below comes Grindstone, a color-matching monster killing slaughter fest. Players take on the role of a muscular swordsman and must connect a path through the colored monsters. Carve your way through matching monsters to score big, and find paths toward rewards and traps.

Speed Demons

Ever wondered what a top-down mobile take on Burnout might look like? Well now you don’t have to imagine because Speed Demons is here. Take to the streets and smash through traffic in this high-octane experience that will keep you coming back for more. Don’t worry about traffic, because you’ll be careening through it, smashing vehicles into your opponents and just overall creating a big mess.

Dread Nautical

Something creepy is happening on the ship in Dread Nautical. This top-down turn-based RPG has players fighting paranormal monstrosities in an attempt to survive a boat ride from Hell. After selecting your character, you will need to gather resources, save other survivors, and plan out an attack if you have any hopes of making it through this thing alive. With procedurally generated levels, there’s endless fun to be had.

Assemble With Care

If you’re looking for a Zen-like experience that also makes you feel like you’re fixing things, look no further than Assemble With Care. This beautifully crafted title comes from the developers of Monument Valley. Your job is to take a device, be it a film camera or a tape record, and fix it using various tools. Each little item has its own story to tell. So as you’re using a pencil to feed the tape back into a cassette, you’ll be treated to a story of what this thing means to someone – the memories it holds.

Dead End Job

Look, not everyone can have a fancy job, someone’s got to suck up the aliens, combat the slime monsters, and capture the ghouls – wait, what? Dead End Job pits you as the Junior Intern and it’s your job to clean up rooms and save concerned citizens. This twin-stick shooter and couch co-op title is perfect for some fun on the run, and even comes with Twitch and Mixer interactivity. Audience members can aid your ghost-busting duties or throw in some hurdles for you to overcome.

ChuChu Rocket

That’s right, the SEGA Dreamcast classic has found a new home on the Apple Arcade. For those who maybe weren’t around at the end of the 90s, ChuChu Rocket tasks you with saving little mice by herding them toward rockets. This is done by placing down tiles to tell them where to go, with the goal being to save as many as possible in as few moves as possible.

Cardpocalypse

It’s time to harness your inner card playing champion as you take on the role of Jess! Unfortunately, the school has banned playing card games, so these 90s’ kids have to play their game in secret – which has led to the mutants actually invading the real world! You will need to build your deck and create entirely new cards using stickers and by changing the rules of the game. Complete quests to earn new cards and stickers, make friends so you can trade your cards, and practice your strategies so you can save the day.

Sayonara Wild Hearts

From the creative minds at Simogo comes Sayonara Wild Hearts. It’s hard to encapsulate what this psychedelic music-based game is about. You’ll fly through the air, scream along the streets on a motorcycle, fight other biker gangs, all while the thrumming beat of electric pop music courses through your veins. It’s as if Rez and Star Fox had a baby. The game sets you along a path and it’s your job to move to avoid obstacles or collect hearts, or even shoot lasers at bikers riding wolves.

Skate City

Skating games are always a must-play experience and Skate City is no different. We remember playing skating games on our Nokia mobiles more than a decade, and look how far they’ve come now. Skate City looks to fuse together the likes of Skate with your mobile to create an experience you can take with you wherever you go. As you skate across the screen, decked out in your preferred style of clothing, hair cut to how you like it, and sporting your ideal accessories, you’ll be able to perform all manner of tricks. Grind rails, leap over barricades, and just generally have a solid time on your wheels.

Hot Lava

Ever play “The Floor is Lava” as a kid? Who are we kidding, we know you did! We did too. And now Hot Lava looks to take that joy of not touching the floor to your Apple device. You will need to think creatively if you want to cross the chasms that wait before you. Avoid the floor by any means necessary as you jump and climb over everything and anything. Hot Lava features drop in and out multiplayer so you can explore these molten worlds with your friends. Plus, there’s a leaderboard to track your time and compete against your friends – perfect for bragging rights!

There are so many more Apple Arcade games you absolutely have to play. While these are just some of our current favorites, we know our list is going to be expanding. With more games coming each month, Apple Arcade is going to revolutionize how you play on your Apple devices. What Apple Arcade games are you playing at the moment? Let us know in the comments!
